FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an to work for our client within the insurance sector. This is initially a 18 - month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Frankfurt am Main.
Our client is seeking an Account Manager to play a key role in strengthening and growing relationships across their German and Austrian client base. This position focuses on nurturing existing accounts, enhancing client engagement, identifying opportunities for additional services, and delivering a high standard of client support across the retail and wholesale investment landscape. The successful candidate will work closely with Business Development teams while independently managing a portfolio of clients and driving long-term customer retention.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, acting as a trusted partner and understanding their evolving business needs.
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, working in partnership with Business Development teams to deliver a seamless client experience.
- Identify and develop cross-selling opportunities, promoting additional products and services that align with client objectives.
- Conduct proactive outreach activities, including follow-up calls after events, webinars, and marketing campaigns to strengthen engagement and uncover new business opportunities.
- Manage a portfolio of Tier 3 retail clients through phone, digital, and virtual engagement channels.
- Collaborate with Client Service and internal stakeholders to resolve client issues and ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Support clients across the full customer lifecycle, including sales, operational, organisational, and regulatory matters.
- Coordinate and support client events, workshops, and engagement activities, particularly within the Frankfurt region.
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing existing client engagement initiatives and implementing new digital customer retention processes.
- Oversee and administer settlement platforms and retirement savings product processes where required.

Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years' experience in client relationship management, client advisory, account management, or customer-facing roles within the financial services or investment management sector.
- Strong understanding of the wholesale and retail financial services market, including banks, asset managers, financial advisers, and distribution partners.Knowledge of investment products, capital markets, and client retention strategies.
- Experience identifying and delivering cross-selling or account growth opportunities within existing client portfolios.
- Ability to manage client relationships independently while collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders.
- Experience working with financial platforms and administration systems, including tools such as FNZ, dwp, or similar settlement and servicing platforms.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence engaging clients via phone, virtual channels, and in-person meetings.
- Customer-centric mindset with strong problem-solving, organisational, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Relevant financial services qualifications, such as banking training, finance, business, economics, or a related degree, are advantageous.
- Fluent German and English language skills, with the ability to communicate professionally in both languages
